A chain of players holding hands, with the head trying to catch its own tail before the whole line tangles into a giggling heap. Catch the Tail needs no equipment at all and works surprisingly well for a group that just wants to move and laugh for a few minutes.
What you need
Nothing but open space and at least 30 players, split into two groups of around 15.
How to play
Each group forms a line, holding hands, one player at the front as the head and the last player at the back as the tail. The head tries to catch the tail without the chain breaking apart anywhere along the line. Everyone in between has to move together, twisting and turning to protect the tail while keeping their grip. If the chain breaks, that counts as a false catch and the game resets. Once the head catches the tail, the dragon can reform with a new head and tail, or the two groups can compare how long each took.
Safety notes
This needs genuinely open space, since a long chain of moving players swings around a fair bit as it twists. Keep an eye out for any player at risk of being pulled off balance, and allow the chain to break and simply restart rather than treating it as a failure.
Why it works
Because every single player has to move in coordination for the chain to work at all, this game builds a strong, immediate sense of teamwork, and because it moves fast and ends in a tangle of laughter either way, it rarely feels competitive in a tense way, even though there is technically a winner.
