Questions to keep beside you

  • What might my child be finding difficult in this situation?
  • Which boundary matters, and can I explain it simply?
  • What support would make the expectation more manageable?
  • Am I ready to listen, or do I need a brief pause first?
  • Who could help if this problem keeps happening?

A child’s distress does not prove that a caregiver has been neglectful. Work, health, family demands, disability and many other circumstances shape the day. Choose an idea that fits your child’s age and needs rather than treating a general talk as an individual assessment.

If you are concerned about development, behaviour or safety, seek advice from an appropriately qualified professional.
