34% children below 6 years don’t go to pre-school in Jharkhand

Based on an independent survey conducted by Save the Children

At least 34% children in the age group of 2-6 years do not avail preschool facilities in Jharkhand and thereby fail to develop the basic cognitive skills that children learn in play schools and government-run anganwadi centres, an independent survey conducted by Save the Children has found. The survey also highlighted that nearly 48% of anganwadi centres in the state do not operate out of their own buildings, hampering coordination between the anganwadis and schools to ensure smooth progress of children from preschool to primary school.
