The EdCaptain Community forum enables the community to ask and answer questions related to children, education and life skills. In order to provide a space where everyone feels comfortable asking questions and writing answers, all EdCaptain users should follow theses guidelines.

Be Respectful

Assume everyone on EdCaptain is here to learn from others and / or contribute their knowledge that may be valuable to other users of the Website. What makes the Website a great resource is that Users with diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and opinions share their experiences, thoughts and ideas. It is OK to disagree, but please be civil, respectful, and considerate.

Be Helpful and Authentic

Write clear, easy-to-read, informative answers. Answers that are genuine, explain why they answer the question being asked, cite legitimate sources, and add new and useful information to the page make the best possible resource for someone with the same question.

Illegal activity

Do not use EdCaptain to engage in unlawful activity or to promote illegal acts.

Intellectual Property

Do not post content that infringes any intellectual property right of another person or party. Writing taken from another source should be properly attributed and block quoted.

Privacy

Don’t post content that violates others’ privacy, including personally identifying or confidential information such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, non-public phone numbers, physical addresses, email addresses, or other non-public information.

Hate speech

We don’t allow content that promotes violence or hatred against people based on characteristics like race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, disease, age, sexual orientation, gender, or gender identity.

Harassment and Bullying

Abusive behavior directed towards private individuals is not allowed. Repeated and unwanted contact is considered to be a form of harassment.

Identity and Deceptive Activity

Your EdCaptain profile should use your real name. Do not use EdCaptain to impersonate another person, act as another entity without authorization, or create multiple accounts.

Spam

Don’t use EdCaptain for spamming. All spam will be immediately removed from the Website. While it is hard to define this content with precision or completeness, here are some representative behaviors we look for that are characteristic of spam:

  • Posting content primarily to drive traffic to, or increase the search rankings of, an external site
  • Scraping and reposting content from other sources for the primary purpose of generating revenue or other personal gains
  • Posting duplicate content, whether from a single account or across multiple accounts
  • Performing a large number of account interactions in a short time period, particularly by automated means. This includes bulk, indiscriminate following of other accounts (follow spam)
  • Repeatedly using responses or other interactions as a method of promotion

For each of these behaviors, when we talk about “content,” we mean not only posts but also any other feature that allows you to add your own text or media. When we talk about “interactions,” we mean any feature that allows one user to interact with another.

Sexually Explicit Material

No adult Content is allowed on EdCaptain. Profile and topic photos may not contain nudity or sexually explicit material.

Malicious Activity

Do not contribute viruses, malware, and other malicious programs or engage in activity that harms or interferes with the operation of EdCaptain.

Reporting Problems

If you see something on EdCaptain that you believe violates our guidelines or policies, please report it to us at [email protected]. Violations may result in limiting or terminating a user’s access to EdCaptain.
